The use of tailor‐made acidic deep eutectic solvents for preparation of quercetin‐enriched extracts from onion solid wastes

The current examination dealt with the development of a methodology to produce quercetin, multifunctional bio-flavonoid, by designing task-specific, highly acidic deep eutectic solvents, based on glycerol and natural organic acids. purpose was achieve simultaneous hydrolysis spiraeoside, major quercetin glycoconjugate occurring in onion solid wastes, extraction. After an initial performance screening, combination glycerol/oxalic acid identified as highest-performing system, further investigation showed that most efficacious molar ratio 3:1. Further study hydrolysis/extractions conditions suggested 30 min, at 130°C, be best operating conditions, giving highest yield 19.65 mg per grams dry mass. extract obtained under these displayed significantly enhanced antiradical activity, compared control extracts prepared water or aqueous ethanol. On other hand, results ferric-reducing power were rather contradictory. It is proposed such may implemented valorize for production enriched increased properties.
